For many years, our firm has been providing services and consultation in the area of Israel’s water economy and is considered a leading firm in this field.
We represent, among others, water producers and suppliers, municipal and regional water associations, water contractors and water consumers, primarily farmers and agricultural settlements.
Our firm has handled water-related lawsuits of hundreds of millions of shekels, including as plaintiffs in class actions, in some of the largest-ever class actions awards.
The department’s clients include, licensed water suppliers, cooperative settlements, kibbutzim, regional councils, water associations, water contractors and farmers.
Our service consists of representation in the courts, both as plaintiffs and defendants, including successfully contesting, and voiding water regulations. We file petitions to the Water Court, a unique tribunal, which necessitates special expertise in procedures pertaining to issues relating to the water economy. We also formulate agreements and provide legal opinions. Representation often begins at the preliminary stage of procedures where positions are presented by the public against the Water Authority on a plethora of issues, including water prices, allocation, establishment of standards, production licenses and water supply.
Due to the significant amount of regulation surrounding the field of water, including the numerous changes in the rural sector following Amendment 27 to the Water Law, we represent clients at the various courts which deal with these matters, including the High Court of Justice and the Water Court.
Our firm is experienced in accompanying water corporations and regional water associations, from it’s foundation, in managing disputes with and/or between their members, as well as against different regulators, including procedures concerning collection for water supply from various consumers, for both household and agricultural consumption.
The department also provides consultation and representation accompanying projects such as water and sewage plants, reservoirs, pumped storage hydroelectricity and water desalination and purification facilities.
